Scientists have said that the effects of global warming can be mitigated by planting trees. The New York Times found that the planet could support nearly 2.5 billion additional acres of forest without shrinking our cities and farms and that those additional trees when they mature, could store 200 gigatons of extra carbon that have been generated by industrial activity over the last 150 years.
This is why converting golf courses to protected forests and planting trees is a core part of Four’s mission.
We set a goal of dividing the land of each country club into thirds. One third for member activities including athletic courts/clubhouses/outdoor theaters etc., one third for leasing to renewable energy companies, and one third for land, animal and wildlife conservation. Planting as many trees as possible on the land that was once occupied with country club greens is one of our main goals.
Some country clubs use up to 55 million gallons of water per year.
